The airfield at CFB Goose Bay is used by civilian aircrafts, however, its main mission is to support North American Air Defense, RCAF, and allied training.

Phased over a 2 year period, this was a major runway, approach, and taxiways upgrade. JSM installed new elevated edge and threshold lighting, concrete encased ductbank and concrete manholes for communications and power, new steady burning and SSALR system on new in-ground concrete foundations, and frangible, 27m high approach towers. JSM also performed photometric testing to ICAO/FAA standards with all related underground utilities and associated civil works. All airport operations were maintained throughout construction without interruption.
